Preview of Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival in downtown York

The sidewalk along Market Street will be covered in chalk. Jazz music will play at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center. The city will be teeming with artists. That can only mean one thing: It’s the annual Yorkfest Fine Arts Festival in downtown York, near the Colonial Complex and the York County Heritage Rail Trail. A juried art opening reception and adult literacy awards ceremony will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at YorkArts, 10 N. Beaver St. The festival runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. All day Saturday and Sunday
— Juried Art Exhibition at YorkArts
— Poetry Spoken Here Tent: Heritage Rail Trail, between Market and King streets
— Festival Marketplace: In and around Colonal Court Hours Courtyard and Rail Trail
— “Meet the Masters” Art Projects For Youth: Gates House and Golden Bough Tavern garden
— Chalk Walk: on the sidewalk of Market Street between Pershing Avenue and Beaver Street

Saturday
— 10 a.m. to noon: Mel Conrad will draw caricatures along the rail trail
— 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.: Ni Riain School of Irish Dance, near Market Street and Pershing Avenue
— 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.: Free mural tours, departing from the gift shop in the rear of the Colonial Complex
— 2 p.m.: Children’s Art and Literacy Awards, YorkArts@CityArt, 118 W. Philadelphia St.
— 2 p.m.: Boat parade, launching from Bantz Park
— 6 p.m.: Free community jazz concert featuring Eric Marner and Brave New World, followed by the Chuck Long Quartet at the Strand-Capitol Performing Arts Center, 50 N. George St.

Sunday
— 10 a.m. to noon: Mel Conrad will draw caricatures along the Rail Trail
— Noon to 4 p.m.: Colonial Courthouse open for free tours
— 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.: Free mural tours, departing from the gift shop in the rear of the Colonial Courthouse Complex
